Brazil condemns Israeli attacks on Gaza, calls for action against 'endless massacre'

(Patria) - The government of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Sunday condemned Israeli attacks on southern Gaza, calling on the world not to "remain silent in the face of this endless massacre," AFP reported.

"The latest bombing in the Gaza Strip, which claimed the lives of hundreds of innocent people, is unacceptable," the Presidency said in a statement.

The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced that at least 92 people were killed and 300 injured in Saturday's attack on Al-Mawasi, a "safe zone" designated by Israel on the Mediterranean coast.

The Civil Defense Agency reported that another 20 were killed in an Israeli attack on a makeshift mosque in the Al-Shati refugee camp in the north of the territory.

On Sunday, 15 people were killed in a school in Gaza housing war-displaced shelters, according to the civil defense agency.

"It is horrific that they continue to collectively punish the Palestinian people. Tens of thousands have already died in successive attacks since last year, many of them in limited humanitarian zones that should be protected," the statement said.

"We, the political leaders of the democratic world, cannot remain silent in the face of this endless massacre," it added.

Brazil withdrew its ambassador from Israel in May due to the conflict, raising tensions after previously accusing the country's government of genocide.

Israel reacted strongly, declaring the Brazilian leader persona non grata.
