Boys: After Srebrenica, we said never again, but what about Syria?

One of the leading Scottish humanitarians who headed ICMP (International Commission on Missing Persons) for the Western Balkans until last year and who made an immeasurable contribution to the identification of the victims of the Srebrenica genocide, Adam Boys, has called on Western countries to intervene in Syria, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

Boys said that the world's reaction was absent when the genocide was committed in Bosnia and Herzegovina in Srebrenica, and that it was then said "Never again", but what about Syria today.

- We calculated that 80,000 people have disappeared in Syria, not only killed but buried in mass graves, and aerial photographs have proven this. However, there is no intervention - says Boys.

Although aware that the situation is complicated, he believes that it is not enough to just say "No", but that action must also be taken.

He reminded that out of 30,000 missing persons in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 22,000 have been found and identified. Of the 8,372 genocide victims, 6,390 have been identified.

Boys will attend the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the genocide in Edinburgh on Friday, July 10, as part of Srebrenica Memorial Week, organized by Remembering Srebrenica from July 5 to 12.

Boys also warned about the events in Ukraine, where 2,000 people have already disappeared, and the Tatars in Crimea are particularly endangered.
