Bosnić sentenced to 7 years in prison, armored vehicles and long barrels outside the BiH Court

The BiH Prosecutor's Office is satisfied with the conviction of Husein Bosnić, who was sentenced to seven years in prison by the BiH Court today for organizing and inciting BiH citizens to go to foreign battlefields, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

Spokesperson for the BiH Prosecutor's Office, Boris Grubešić, told reporters that the BiH Prosecutor's Office is satisfied with the conviction, but that the Prosecutor's Office will later seek a harsher sentence for Bosnić.

Bosnić's lawyer, Adil Lozo, will file an appeal against the first-instance verdict. He said that Bosnić was tried for his faith, and that this case would eventually end up in Strasbourg if necessary.

Husein Bosnić, the informal leader of Salafis in Bosnia and Herzegovina, previously stated that he never called on anyone to go to Syria to fight, and that video recordings of his lectures on the internet channel YouTube were not posted by him, but by someone else, and that he does not feel guilty for the deaths of several young men from BiH who were killed on foreign battlefields.

The parents of the young men who went to the Syrian battlefields said at the BiH Court that it is evident that their children's behavior changed after they started attending gatherings where Bosnić gave lectures on Islam.

Bosnić was arrested in the police operation "Damask" in September 2014, and he immediately pleaded not guilty to the charges against him before the judge.

At the beginning of October, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina also issued first-instance verdicts to Husein Erdić, Midhat Traka, Nevad Hušidić, and Merim Keserović, also for joining ISIL, writes the news agency Patria.

The BiH Court noted that Bosnić's family situation was taken into consideration when determining the sentence, and the fact that he has 18 children was considered an extenuating circumstance.
