Bosnia and Herzegovina has not overcome the stagnation in the European integration process

The Deputy Head of the Unit for Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Directorate-General for Enlargement of the European Commission, Georg Ziegler, today presented the results of the Progress Report of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2014 to representatives of civil society in BiH, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

At the meeting held in Sarajevo, Ziegler emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina has made very limited progress in meeting the political criteria and has not overcome the stagnation in the European integration process, while most other countries in the region are making decisive progress.

- This unsatisfactory situation is largely caused by the lack of collective political will of the leadership in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The efficiency and functioning of political institutions at all levels of government must be improved, and a functional coordination mechanism on EU issues must be urgently established - Ziegler stated.

Non-governmental organizations that attended the presentation operate in various fields, including political analysis, women's and minority rights.

The European Union holds regular consultations with representatives of non-governmental organizations and their important contribution is sought when preparing annual progress reports for countries wishing to join the Union.
