The fight against terrorism must be a common goal for everyone in BiH

A session of the Security Committee of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska is being held in Banja Luka, with the participation of competent representatives from BiH and Serbia, on the topic "Fight against terrorism, organized and the most serious forms of economic crime and corruption - cooperation and joint action of competent bodies and institutions", writes Patria.

The thematic session is attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska Dragan Lukač, the Minister of Justice of Republika Srpska Anton Kasipović, the envoy of the President of Republika Srpska Siniša Karan, the Minister of Security of BiH Dragan Mektić, the acting Director of the Serbian Police Vladimir Rebić, the Deputy Director of the Intelligence-Security Agency of BiH Trifko Buha, prosecutor of the RS Prosecutor's Office Živana Bajić, prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office Dubravko Čampara, Director of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption and Coordination of Fight against Corruption of BiH Hasim Šabotić, representative of SIPA, representatives of the Security Committee of the Serbian Assembly: Marko Blagojević, Aleksandar Marković and Momčilo Mandić, presidents of the committees of the National Assembly of RS, representatives of the non-governmental sector.

Dragan Mektić, Minister of Security of BiH, stated that terrorism in BiH must be discussed transparently, not by sweeping things under the rug, because it will escalate at some point.

He emphasized that he is not in favor of self-proclaimed experts presenting inaccurate data on the problem of terrorism in BiH. He also said that work must be done on deradicalization and preventive action.

- The most important thing is that in the event of a terrorist act, the case is fully investigated and those responsible are prosecuted and punished. But what if there is a radicalized person in society who has not committed a criminal offense? What to do with them? Preventive action should be taken, and attempts should be made to deradicalize that person and do everything possible to prevent them from committing a terrorist act - said Mektić.

Prosecutor Čampara said that the results related to the fight against terrorism and the phenomenon of foreign fighters were discussed openly, and that they are good. He emphasized that the discussion was of high quality and that it would lead to solutions that specifically address this problem.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that joint action and coordination between competent security and judicial institutions must be achieved to prevent this phenomenon.
