Suicide bomber causes explosion in Istanbul: Five people killed, dozens injured

An explosion occurred in a busy part of Istanbul known for its shopping malls, killing five people and injuring more than 20, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

People are fleeing in panic, and according to initial reports, it was a suicide bomber who carried out the attack on Istiklal Street, which is crowded with tourists on weekends. Last Sunday, there was an attack in Ankara in which 37 people were killed, for which the Kurdish militant group (TAK) was blamed. Last month, 28 people were killed and several injured in a bomb explosion in Ankara.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that terrorists are targeting civilians because they are losing the battle with the Turkish security forces.

- This only increases our fight against terrorism - Erdogan said.
