(Patria) - Hospitals in northern Gaza have ceased operations due to fuel shortages and intense fighting, the Hamas-run health ministry in the besieged enclave announced. Youssef Abu Rish, deputy health minister in the Hamas-governed Gaza Strip, confirmed the information to AFP.
The World Health Organization (WHO) stated that at least 2,300 people – patients, healthcare workers, and those fleeing fighting – are located at Dar al-Shifa hospital, the largest hospital in Gaza.
More than 500 foreigners left Gaza today and entered Egypt via the Rafah border crossing, announced the authorities on the Palestinian side of the crossing. These include citizens of Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden, the USA, Morocco, Jordan, and Russia. In addition to them, a small number of injured Palestinians with escorts requiring medical care crossed into Egypt.
Palestinians without a passport from another country cannot leave Gaza. Israel has closed the border on all sides, making Rafah the only crossing through which one can enter and exit the coastal Palestinian enclave.
