Bojan wounded in ambush: Revenge from former partners from prison?

Mladen Lazarević (34), the jeweler robber from Dubai who was wounded yesterday in an ambush in Belgrade, had unsettled accounts with his former friends from prison, "Blic" learns from sources familiar with the investigation, reports the Patria News Agency.

– In recent years, Lazarević's name has been associated not only with jewelry store robberies but also with drugs. The motive for the attack on him should be sought in these dealings, as well as in the previous attempt in Niš, almost two years ago, when an explosive device that did not detonate was found under the Mercedes car of his wife Bojana, also a member of the gang – says a source familiar with the investigation for "Blic".

Lazarević narrowly escaped death in Niš on December 22, 2013, and the car was parked in Albanske Golgote Street.

– Even then, it was mentioned that Lazarević was the godfather of the arrest of some members of the criminal group, which is why his former comrades from prison threatened him with revenge. And the question is with whom he has unsettled accounts regarding drugs – concludes the source for "Blic".

Lazarević was wounded yesterday in an ambush in Zemun. He was in a white Land Rover jeep with Belgrade license plates when a black Audi approached him, from which the attacker fired about 30 shots at the windshield and the driver's side window.

The assassin fled, and Lazarević managed to drive himself to the KBC "Bežanijska kosa", where it was determined that he was not in mortal danger. He sustained cuts to his neck and head and is in Zemun Hospital.

The police immediately launched a pursuit of the shooter from the Audi, who fled towards the Belgrade-Zagreb highway. However, the attacker or attackers escaped.

There is no Interpol warrant for Mladen Lazarević on the public Interpol website, but his wife Bojana is still wanted. An international warrant has been issued for him for his participation in the robbery of a jewelry store in Dubai in 2007, when jewelry worth more than ten million euros was stolen in just 90 seconds!

Lazarević is also suspected of participating in the theft of jewels worth several million euros in Vaduz, for which the Liechtenstein police are also searching for him.

Mladen and Bojana are on wanted lists for the theft of jewels worth more than ten million euros, stolen in Dubai in 2007. Lazarević allegedly informed on his associates from the "Pink Panthers", who threatened him with revenge from prison.
