Bobar and Bank of Srpska swallowed 500 million marks in deposits

In the BN television show „Puls“, Suzana Rađen Todorić interviewed Dragan Čavić, the opposition leader in the RS. Čavić spoke, among other things, about bank robbery and responsibility for the collapse of enormous funds.

„Two banks were destroyed and their collapse cost nearly half a billion marks“, said Čavić. Bobar Bank swallowed around 250 million in deposits from citizens, the power utility, numerous municipalities and the Brčko District, and judicial institutions. Equally, the collapse of the Bank of Srpska will cost around 250 million.

Čavić pointed to a shocking fact. The crime in Balkan Investment Bank, later the Bank of Srpska, was known from some reports as early as 2011. It was known and no action was taken. If action had been taken five years ago, the huge losses that followed would have been prevented. The liquidity problems of Bobar Bank were also known in mid-2014. 

 „The authorities tolerated this great robbery“, Čavić claims. 

He cited the example of Serbia, where five banks collapsed and shook Serbia's financial stability. The authorities reacted and arrested around 100 people. „In the Republika Srpska, nothing“, says Čavić disappointedly.

Čavić also answered questions from the RS about why the Prosecutor's Office of BiH is dealing with this case. According to Čavić, only the Prosecutor's Office of BiH can deal with it:
