Bloomberg: Russian and US envoys to meet in Saudi Arabia to prepare for Ukraine summit

(Patria) - High-ranking officials from Russia and the United States will reportedly hold talks in Saudi Arabia next week to prepare for a potential meeting of the leaders of the two nations, Bloomberg reports, citing anonymous sources, TASS reported last night.

It is suggested that a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, during which they will discuss potential solutions to the conflict in Ukraine, could be held before the end of the month.

Bloomberg notes that the specifics of the meeting, as well as the list of participants, are yet to be finalized. Saudi Arabia will be represented by the Minister of State for National Security, Musaed bin Mohammed al-Aiban. The delegations aim to determine the date of the summit before the start of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting for Muslims.

On February 12, Trump spoke by phone with both Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky. After speaking with Putin, Trump announced his intention to initiate negotiations on Ukraine.

The Kremlin's press service stated that the presidents "agreed to continue personal contacts, including organizing face-to-face meetings." Trump later mentioned that a meeting with Putin could take place in Saudi Arabia.
