Health Insurance Fund Account Blocked: Panic in RS Healthcare Institutions

The main account of the Health Insurance Fund of Republika Srpska is blocked. Due to a lawsuit by "Krajinalijek" worth 3.6 million KM, the District Commercial Court in Banja Luka ordered the seizure of the Fund's financial assets in Nova Banka, which will be transferred to the account of "Krajinagrupa", reports Patria.

Director Dejan Kusturić explains in writing that "Krajinalijek" also owes large sums of money to the Fund for contributions, but avoids payment by operating through another related legal entity, "Krajinagrupa". As they could not prove this in court, a forced collection followed.

The Health Insurance Fund states that they have duly appealed the verdict in the lawsuit against "Krajinalijek", but the court rejected all facts from the objection. The Fund's director says they will use all legal means to protect the interests of the Health Insurance Fund.

Due to the account blockade, real panic reigns in healthcare institutions. Employees fear for their salaries, and it is unclear how long this will last. The Fund assures that everything is under control.

"The temporary account blockade does not in any way jeopardize the regular operations of the Fund, nor the rights of patients, nor the operations of healthcare institutions. This problem will be overcome as soon as possible", they emphasize at the HIF.
