(Patria) - U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke over the past 24 hours with the foreign ministers of Turkey, China and Saudi Arabia to make it clear that escalation in the Middle East is in no one's interest.
State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told reporters at a briefing that Washington remains concerned about the risk of escalation in the region, especially after Iranian threats against Israel.
The Iranian mission to the United Nations suggested yesterday that any Iranian military response to the deadly Israeli airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus could have been prevented if the UN Security Council had condemned the Israeli attack.
