(Patria) - Wandering photographer Boris Trogrančić, who tirelessly reveals the beauties of Bosnia and Herzegovina to us, visited Blidinje Nature Park a few days ago and delighted us with photos of the frozen lake, writes Punkufer.
"Blidinje Lake is the largest natural lake in Bosnia and Herzegovina, located on the plateau of Blidinje Nature Park, at the foot of the Vran and Čvrsnica mountains.
This beautiful blue eye is located at an altitude of 1,184 meters. The lake can be reached from the direction of Tomislavgrad from the west, or from the northeast side, from the direction of Jablanica.
The lake itself was formed by human activities 150 years ago, but the valley in which it is located is of glacial origin, and it is extremely shallow - only 3-4 meters.
This region is known for cattle farming, and Blidinje goat cheese is widely known. I had the opportunity to try homemade products prepared by the local population, and if I had to choose only one, I couldn't because they are all excellent," describes Trogrančić.
Blidinje Lake is situated between mountains, which influence the local climate: Mediterranean and continental climates meet here. Temperatures are harsh and do not exceed zero for half the year.
"The wind that greeted me here is not at all harmless, and I would advise anyone who wishes to visit the high Dinaric Alps to prepare well with winter clothing and equipment.
Besides the atmosphere of a true oasis, Blidinje also has numerous stećci (medieval tombstones), and skiing is offered on the slopes of Čvrsnica.
Of course, for hiking enthusiasts, there is the famous Vran with all its beauties and challenges," adds Trogrančić.
