Blagaj Breaking Visit Records: Tourists Delighted by Buna's Beauty and Low Prices

The Herzegovinian pearl, the old town of Blagaj, is literally full of tourists, both local and foreign, and the season will last until October 1st. Parking is almost impossible to find, and all-day parking costs only 2 KM, writes the Patria news agency.

The Sports-Tourist Club "Blagaj city" Blagaj also has its hands full. Most tourists want to enter the cave where the Buna River springs after lunch.

The club gathers citizens to satisfy and promote water and land sports. The entrance fee to the cave is four KM per person, and you enter 25 to 30 meters deep. Blagaj could break its tourist visit record this year.

Tourists then listen to stories about the cave's landmarks and all its legends.

Tourists are also delighted with the prices, as they are relatively low, so you will pay no more than 30 KM for an exceptionally high-quality lunch for two.

- Unlike the prices we had at the seaside, everything here is acceptable. We are returning from vacation and decided to buy gifts for our loved ones here because they are more affordable - said Azra from Sarajevo, who visits Buna every year on her way back from vacation.

However, the friendly hosts say they live less from tourism and more from growing agricultural products.

- I have this stand where I sell souvenirs, but I earn more from fruits and vegetables. We will also be making jams now, so there will be income in the fall too - said a vendor at the stand.

You can buy a copper sugar bowl for only 10 KM, and a whole set with a džezva and fildžans will cost you up to 30 KM. Popular magnets cost only one mark.

Otherwise, Buna is widely known for its beauty due to its source (the largest average water flow in Europe, 43,000 liters/sec.). The water springs from a cave at a depth of 30 meters, and the flow of this river goes through the urban part of Blagaj for a length of 6 km.

The Bunica River is located 4 km from the center of Blagaj with its huge spring with a diameter of about 40 meters, and unlike Buna, its flow is about 7 km and it goes through inaccessible natural beauties.

If you decide to visit Blagaj and descend one of these rivers, a peaceful and pleasant day awaits you.

The Sports-Tourist Club "Blagaj city" will provide you with parking space, reception by one of the members with brief explanations and the day's schedule, a skipper-guide of your choice (certified person for rowing and rescue), changing and toilet facilities, a life jacket, a raft paddle, a waterproof bag for the user's personal belongings, a rubber boat (6 people), a two-seater canoe (open polyethylene canoe), a short rest during the descent (Ada or Bukovica picnic area), a set of benches and tables (for 18 people) for lunch, transportation, i.e., return to the starting point (van 1+8).
