Reno Sinovčić was arrested in Zadar, and together with him, as reported by Zadarski list, the director of NK Zadar Dalibor Zebić was also arrested, as well as four employees of the Zadar Tax Administration: former head Vjekoslav Jurlina, and Irena Anić, Željan Pejković and Marko Lozančić, reports the Patria news agency. Sinovčić and the others are charged with embezzling 10 million kuna.
Incidentally, this case could be of interest to the Bosnian public due to the former Bosnia and Herzegovina coach Miroslav Ćiro Blažević, who is a close associate of Sinovčić and is currently the coach of NK Zadar. The popular Ćiro spoke publicly, saying he was shocked.
- It is irresponsible to lock up such a sports benefactor. I believe he will be released today - Ćiro stated.
According to sources close to Blažević, the former Bosnia and Herzegovina coach is very shaken by these events and is also very concerned.
Sinovčić began trading fish in the late 1970s. At the beginning of the war in 1991, he joined the Croatian National Guard and became the commander of the defense of Novigrad. The first accusations against him date back to the early 1990s: the military police investigated him for embezzlement, and the civilian police for theft of property from an abandoned house owned by a Serb and for violent behavior at a fish market. He was never finally convicted.
