Former USK Police Commissioner: Convicted Ramo Brkić left Croatia by plane

Former police commissioner of the Una-Sana Canton, Ramo Brkić, who was finally sentenced to 11 years in prison for abuse of office and authority, and drug production and trafficking, left BiH a few days before the start of serving his sentence, reports the Patria News Agency.

Ramo Brkić was supposed to appear at a hearing at the Court of BiH on February 29 this year in a case against him, judge Azra Miletić, and Senad Šabić for receiving, or rather giving, bribes with the aim of securing a lesser sentence in a retrial. After Brkić did not appear in the courtroom in Sarajevo, the hearing was postponed.

Two days earlier, the former police commissioner of the Una-Sana Canton had left BiH. He crossed the Izačić border crossing at 5 AM and headed towards Zagreb. Five hours later, Brkić boarded a plane at Zagreb Airport Pleso and left Croatia.

Court of BiH judge Biljana Ćuković postponed the hearing until March 10, and the Court of BiH issued an order to the court police to bring the accused to the continuation of the main trial.

The Appellate Panel of the Court of BiH in November last year finally sentenced Brkić to 11 years in prison for organized crime related to unauthorized drug trafficking, and abuse of office, while Senad Šabić was sentenced to 10 years in the same case. Brkić was supposed to be sent to serve his sentence on March 9, N1 reported.
