(Patria) - Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert expressed his opposition to current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during an interview with Al Arabiya.
"I do not support Netanyahu. I think he has made every possible mistake and that he must be removed and I hope he will be removed as soon as possible," Olmert said in the interview, which is scheduled to be fully broadcast on March 30.
"I am doing everything within the democratic system of Israel to get rid of Netanyahu, because I do not think he is the right person for the State of Israel," he added.
Netanyahu has faced criticism since Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7. Criticisms have focused on his failure to secure the release of hostages taken during the attack and Israel's approach to its military campaign in Gaza.
Olmert, who served as prime minister from 2006 to 2009, said he hoped Israel would support the creation of a Palestinian state and that Palestinians would welcome such a step.
Olmert claimed that the peace plan he proposed during his premiership did not receive sufficient support from the Palestinian side.
