(Patria) - Former Democratic President of the United States Bill Clinton (78) was hospitalized on Monday with a fever, his deputy chief of staff said, Reuters reported.This is not an emergency situation, NBC New reported

Clinton was hospitalized the previous evening at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington for tests and observation after developing a fever.

- He and his family are deeply grateful for the extraordinary care provided by the hospital team and are touched by the kind messages and well wishes he has received - Ureña said.

Clinton (78) has faced serious health problems before. In October 2021, he spent six days in the hospital due to an infection that affected his bloodstream. He is also known to have a history of heart problems.

At the age of 58, in 2004, he underwent quadruple bypass surgery for extensive heart disease, and in 2010, he underwent a procedure to open a blocked artery after experiencing chest pain.

Clinton has remained active since the end of his White House term (1993-2001), launching the Clinton Foundation, which focuses on global initiatives such as health and education.

The foundation has collaborated with the American Heart Association to create the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.

After his heart problems, Clinton significantly changed his lifestyle, becoming a vegan.
