White House earlier predicted the war with Iran could last more than a month, Trump now claims it is 'actually coming to an end'

(Patria) - US President Donald Trump told CBS News that he believes the war with Iran is actually coming to an end, asserting that the US is "far ahead of schedule" in achieving its goals.

- I think the war is actually over, more or less - Trump said.

He claimed that Iran no longer has a functional navy, communication systems, or air force, while their missiles have been reduced to just a few remaining units.

Asked when he expects the conflict to end, Trump replied that in his mind the war is already in its final phase.

However, earlier indications from the White House suggested that the conflict, which has lasted ten days, could drag on for more than a month.

Trump emphasizes that the United States has significantly exceeded his initial estimates, according to which the war was supposed to last between four and five weeks.

Asked if he has any message for Iran's new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, he briefly stated that he has no message for him at all, and added that he already has a person in mind to replace him, but declined to provide details.

Trump also said that his administration is considering taking control of the Strait of Hormuz. That passage is one of the world's most important points for energy transport, through which approximately one-fifth of the global oil supply passes.

Although the strait is currently open, the White House is actively considering the option of seizing it. Oil prices have surged since the start of the war with Iran and are currently hovering around $100 per barrel.

Trump commented on Iran's missile capabilities, stating that Iran has already fired everything it had and that they better not try anything reckless, because that would be the end of that country.

He added that any new hostile move by them would mean the complete end of Iran, after which its name would never be heard again.
