White House Unveils Plan to End Israeli War in Gaza

(Patria) - The White House yesterday unveiled a comprehensive 20-point plan aimed at ending the war in Gaza and establishing long-term peace, as U.S. President Donald Trump hosted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The proposal envisions transforming Gaza into a "deradicalized, terror-free zone that poses no threat to its neighbors," while ensuring the enclave "will be rebuilt for the benefit of the people of Gaza, who have suffered more than enough".

According to the plan, "if both sides agree to this proposal, the war will end immediately" with the withdrawal of Israeli forces to agreed-upon positions.

Within 72 hours of Israeli acceptance, all hostages, both living and deceased, must be returned, according to the draft plan which was also shared on social media.

Following the release of hostages, Israel would release 250 prisoners serving life sentences and 1,700 Gazan residents detained after October 7, 2023. Hamas members who commit to peaceful coexistence and lay down their weapons will be granted amnesty.

"Upon acceptance of this agreement, full aid will be immediately sent to the Gaza Strip," and distribution will continue "without interference from the two sides through the UN and its agencies".

Under the plan, Gaza would be governed by a technocratic, apolitical Palestinian committee responsible for day-to-day public services. Hamas and other factions would have no role in governing Gaza, directly, indirectly, or in any form.

The U.S. would work with Arab partners to deploy temporary International Stabilization Forces (ISF).

If Hamas rejects the proposal, an expanded aid operation will continue in territories controlled by the ISF.

According to the plan, regional partners would ensure that Hamas and factions fulfill their obligations and that the New Gaza poses no threat to its neighbors or its people.

Israel will not occupy or annex Gaza, and its military forces will withdraw as international forces establish control.

Trump's economic development plan for rebuilding and empowering Gaza would establish a special economic zone with preferential tariffs and access rates agreed upon with participating countries.

"No one will be forced to leave Gaza, and those who wish to leave will be free to do so and free to return," it states.

The plan includes a process for interfaith dialogue and states that when the PA (Palestinian Authority) reform program is faithfully implemented, conditions can finally be created for a credible path to Palestinian self-determination and statehood.

The Israeli army has killed more than 66,000 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023, mostly women and children. Relentless bombing has rendered the enclave uninhabitable and led to starvation.
