SARAJevo, (Patria) - Despite the crisis in agricultural production, reflected in the rising cost of raw materials, which has been ongoing for practically the second year in a row, i.e., since the disruptions in the supply chains, Bosnia and Herzegovina has seen a significant jump in the value of exported food in the first half of this year.
Looking at the indicators recently published by the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH, it is evident that the value of exports in the agro-industrial sector from January to June this year amounted to 487,973,802 KM, which is an increase of almost 90 million KM compared to the same period last year (when the export value was 398,886,045 KM).
Fats and oils of animal and vegetable origin, processed meat, cereal-based products, beverages, alcohol and vinegar, milk and dairy products, and edible fruits participate the most in exports by value.
Although these are good indicators suggesting that the domestic agricultural sector is indeed crisis-resistant, two facts should be taken into account, the first being the data according to which the import of agricultural products is many times higher.
