BiH Loses One of Its All-Time Best Actresses: Nada Đurevska Passes Away

Nada Đurevska, a doyen of Bosnian-Herzegovinian acting, passed away today in Sarajevo at the age of 65 after a serious illness she battled, reports the Patria agency.

Nada Đurevska was born in 1952 in Skopje. She came to Sarajevo as a six-year-old girl. She finished Hasan Kikić Elementary School, and then graduated from the Secondary Medical School, after which she enrolled and completed acting studies. Her first role was in Čehov's The Cherry Orchard, where she played Varya.

She is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, and in 2014 she received the Sixth of April Award of the City of Sarajevo. Not long after, she retired from active acting. She spent more than 40 years on stage and the boards that mean life.

Her roles in the plays will be remembered: The Lost Son, Woyzeck, Hamlet, Double Bottom, Medea, Hotel Free Traffic, Paskvelija, Mother, Hasanaginica, Waiting for Godot, In Agony, On Foot. During the war years, she performed on all three stages of Sarajevo theaters.

After the war, she achieved top creations in the plays: Sarah Bernhardt, Tartuffe, Hamlet, It Will Be, It Will Be, The Dervish and Death, Endgame, Twilight, Roberto Zucco, Hanka, A Game of Whist, The Fortress, Lame Billy, The Cherry Orchard, First Time to the Elections with Father, Women's Turbo-Folk Band.

She also acted in numerous television series and dramas, as well as in a series of films from Bosnian-Herzegovinian, Croatian, Serbian, and Macedonian cinematography.
