BiH did not contribute to the arrest of Darko Šarić

The arrest of Darko Šarić, considered the biggest Balkan drug lord, has shaken the region, and reactions are coming from all sides. However, the Serbian criminal, born in Montenegro, had his criminal tentacles also in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but, as confirmed for the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP), our country did not in any way participate in the operation to locate and arrest him.

The director of the Republika Srpska (RS) police, Gojko Vasić, told NAP that there had been an exchange of information in the past, but that this time he „does not believe that Bosnia and Herzegovina contributed in any way to the arrest of Šarić“.

- There was previously an exchange of information regarding Darko Šarić, but as far as the arrest is concerned, I doubt anyone from BiH did anything – Vasić said.

However, we recall that Šarić, for whom Interpol issued a warrant at the request of Serbia, was also linked to the group of Zijad Turković, and during the trial before the Court of BiH, testimonies about the connections between Turković and Šarić could be heard.

Also, Šarić, who according to the Serbian authorities was located in Latin America, where he surrendered and was transferred to Belgrade where more than ten indictments for a series of serious crimes await him, also had connections with the Albanian Naser Kelmendi.

The Albanian was arrested in Kosovo a few months ago, after fleeing from BiH where he had stayed unhindered for years, despite suspicions of serious crime.

We also recall that the Supreme Court of Republika Srpska sentenced Zoran Ćopić, an associate of Darko Šarić, to four years in prison for injecting "dirty money" into the economic flows of BiH.

Ćopić privatized the Bijeljina sugar factory, and it is suspected that he did so precisely with Šarić's „dirty“ money. More than 10 million marks of that dirty money were seized.

Incidentally, it is indicative and deplorable for the BiH security and judicial system that not a single „big fish“ has ever been arrested in Bosnia and Herzegovina, whether criminals or war criminals. Serbia can boast of the arrest of Šarić and a number of other high-ranking criminals, and Naser Kelmendi was only arrested in Kosovo. The most wanted war criminals, Radovan Karadžić and Slobodan Milošević, were also arrested by Serbian security agencies.
