
Bosnia and Herzegovina has increased its exports of weapons, ammunition, as well as parts and accessories for them by more than six million KM compared to the previous year.
BiH's defense industry has been on the rise for the last four years and represents an important economic sector in the country, which can be an opportunity for hundreds of new jobs, writes the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).
In the first ten months of 2014, BiH exported more than 70 million KM worth of weapons, ammunition, as well as parts and accessories for them, which is an increase of more than six million KM compared to the same period last year.
Progress has also been made in reducing the import of weapons, ammunition, and parts for weapons into BiH. Imports into BiH, which were over eight million KM in the first ten months of last year, were reduced to 6.8 million KM in 2014.
This year, BiH exported weapons and ammunition to 28 countries, with the largest exports going to Malaysia (14,125,189 KM), Saudi Arabia (11,497,847 KM), Switzerland (11,212,394 KM), and the USA (7,620,086 KM).
