During the Summit 100, the leading business initiative of the region, held for the first time in BiH, organized by the ASA Prevent Group and BBI Bank, as part of a workshop titled "Challenges - How to Turn a Problem into Progress," interesting panel discussions were realized, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.
The task for participants, business leaders, was to propose the best solutions to be presented to political leaders at today's Summit 100 panel. The moderator was Jelena Radulović from the Summit 100 organization, and the discussion was supported by Melanie SeierLarsen and Tomislav Čorak from the Boston Consulting Group.
At five round tables, topics such as branding the region, circular economy, labor market, automotive industry, and renewable energy sources were discussed.
As participants pointed out, the opportunity for branding the region and great potential lies in healthy food, agriculture, and tourism, and thus a proposal was made to establish a test industry as a pilot project for a joint approach to other markets.
On a similar principle of joint efforts, proposals were also presented within the topic of circular economy, where it was emphasized that only through joint efforts can existing resources be maximally utilized. Qualified labor was recognized as one of the most valuable resources, capable of adapting old products to new market trends.
Given that there is currently a imbalance in the labor market between what employers seek and what workers can offer, with the main issue tied to the education system that only offers opportunities for creating so-called "hard skills," one proposal was a regional partnership through which companies would send their employees for additional education to another country.
Discussing the growing need for energy, it was concluded that it is necessary to increase energy efficiency and work on raising awareness about the rational use of energy resources. The proposal was thus for the region to turn to renewable energy sources, through the use of hydro and solar potentials, with the introduction of uniform standards in the region.
Also interesting was the topic of the automotive industry, within which it was concluded that the region should be capable of following the development trends of electric cars. The region has strong suppliers in this industry that could be merged into one cluster, the panelists concluded, and proposed the formation of a HUB that would offer innovative solutions competitive with the markets of Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania.
During today's part of the Summit 100 program, discussions will focus on new energy, inspiration and innovation, improvement of transport infrastructure and mobility within the region.
