Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia Strengthen Cooperation in Combating Organized Crime, Corruption, and Terrorism

Minister of Security of BiH Dragan Mektić held a bilateral meeting this morning with the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nebojša Stefanović, ahead of the joint session of the Council of Ministers of BiH and the Government of the Republic of Serbia, reports the Patria News Agency.   

During the meeting, cooperation in the field of security was discussed, particularly concerning the fight against organized crime and corruption.

It was stated that BiH and the Republic of Serbia have been achieving exceptionally good cooperation between police agencies for many years. Furthermore, a high level of trust has been established at the ministerial level, and good mutual relations have been built, which has proven very beneficial in quickly and effectively resolving security challenges.

The priority in the future actions of the two ministries and police agencies will be the timely exchange of information on all persons of security interest, sending an unambiguous message that criminals will not be able to abuse dual citizenship and use borders to evade justice.

Therefore, the security agencies of BiH and Serbia will continue to suppress cross-border crime, which causes great damage to the economies and budgets of both countries, as well as terrorism as a global threat in the world, through bilateral and regional cooperation.

In this regard, the signing of a new Agreement on Police Cooperation in Combating Terrorism and Cross-Border Crime and the acceleration of the initiated project to block locations suitable for illegal border crossings were initiated, it was announced from the Ministry of Security of BiH.
