Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iran should strengthen economic cooperation

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Members of the Presidency of BiH Bakir Izetbegović and Mladen Ivanić received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Javad Zarif. At the beginning of the meeting, the members of the Presidency of BiH welcomed the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif.

On this occasion, the members of the Presidency of BiH informed Minister Zarif about the current situation in our country. The commitment of BiH to the European path was emphasized, as well as the continuation of initiated reforms and the fulfillment of necessary conditions for the country to gain candidate status for EU membership.

It was jointly assessed that the relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Islamic Republic of Iran are good and friendly, with no open issues. The cooperation between the two countries is at a satisfactory level, but there is room for its improvement.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has an exceptional geographical position that provides the Iranian economy and investors with access to the European market, which is a prerequisite for establishing companies and branches of Iranian enterprises. Minister Zarif expressed hope and readiness to abolish the visa regime between the two countries, which would affect the development of the economy, economic and cultural relations, especially in the sectors of agriculture, wood industry, energy, and construction.

Advisor Dejan Vanjek attended the meeting on behalf of the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, Dragan Čović.
