BiH losing control over gas imports, RS entity taking over business

The Party for BiH issued a statement warning that Bosnia and Herzegovina is losing control over gas imports into the country, reports the Patria News Agency.

According to claims from this party, all gas flow meters owned by BH Gas, the sole authorized importer of gas into BiH, have been removed in Zvornik, on the border between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. The meters were removed by the company Gaspromet Pale, leaving BH Gas without the ability to measure gas at the handover points in Zvornik.

SBiH explains that the first point for measuring gas entry into BiH for BH Gas will now be in Kladanj.

- This is the first time in 18 years that this company does not have measuring points in Zvornik, and the meters are now ownerless because BH Gas did not express a desire to take them over. What the public should know is that the removal of these meters was done in accordance with the Instruction on Simplified Customs Procedure adopted by the Indirect Taxation Authority.

According to that Instruction, all participants in gas business in BiH were supposed to obtain licenses. However, even five months after the Instruction was published, companies from FBiH (BH-Gas and Energoinvest) have not done so. On the other hand, companies from the BiH entity RS have obtained licenses, thus meeting the conditions for conducting business as stipulated by the ITA Instruction – states SBiH. This party further criticizes that BH Gas and Energoinvest, through their irresponsible behavior, have contributed to the collapse of Bosnia and Herzegovina's gas sector, as well as the handover of this important sector to the BiH entity RS.
