BiH receives MAP offer today, first step towards NATO membership

BRUSSELS, (Patria) – Bosnia and Herzegovina receives an offer for the Membership Action Plan (MAP) for NATO today, confirmed NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels.

“I expect that we will ask BiH to prepare the first annual program. Now it is up to the BiH authorities to accept this offer“, said the head of NATO.

He added that we need to wait and see if BiH will seize this opportunity.

“We have offered them a chance. Bosnia and Herzegovina has requested MAP, and we are now ready to receive the submission of their annual national program. Now it is up to them to decide whether they will do it“, NATO Secretary General stated on Monday.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, a meeting of the foreign ministers of NATO member countries is being held in Brussels. MAP will be approved today, as announced. This is the first step in the process of BiH’s full membership in NATO.
