Biden's press office to be exclusively led by women

(Patria) – Newly elected US President Joe Biden has chosen women for the communications team, led by Director Kate Bedingfield and long-time Democratic Party spokesperson Jen Psaki as Press Secretary.

Biden's transition office claims they will receive the first presidential intelligence briefing on Monday.

Neera Tanden, president of the Center for American Progress, will also join the team, overseeing the implementation of Biden's policies.

Biden knows these three members of the new presidential team from the term of former President Barack Obama, where Bedingfield served as Vice President's (then Biden's) Communications Director, while Psaki was White House Communications Director and State Department spokesperson. Tanden served as Senior Advisor to then-Secretary of Health Kathleen Sebelious at the time.

– Communicating directly and honestly with the American people is one of the president's most significant duties, and this team will take on the enormous responsibility of connecting the American people with the White House, Biden stated.

Karine Jean Pierre, former Chief of Staff to newly elected Vice President Kamala Harris, will serve as the President's Principal Deputy Press Secretary. She is also known from the Obama administration, where she served as Regional Political Director for the White House Office of Political Affairs.

The new team will also include Pili Tobar, former Director of Communications for Coalitions in the Biden campaign. She will hold the high position of Deputy White House Communications Director.

In addition to the communications team, women will also hold other high positions in the Biden administration; new appointments are expected, such as Cecilia Rouse to head the Council of Economic Advisers, and experienced Janet Yellen to head the US Treasury.
