Biden campaign: Trump conviction doesn't change election race

(Patria) - The election campaign of United States President Joe Biden said that the guilty verdict against Donald Trump in the hush-money trial proves that "no one is above the law," but that it will do little to change the dynamics of the November 5 election, Reuters reported.

"There is still only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office – at the ballot box," said Biden campaign spokesperson Michael Tyler after the verdict. Biden's campaign has spent weeks weighing how to handle the outcome of the trial and has ultimately decided not to change course, arguing that a guilty verdict will not significantly alter the election dynamics, campaign officials said. Instead, they said they plan to stay focused on the campaign's main messages about threats to democracy and abortion access.

"Guilty or not, Trump will be the Republican nominee for president," Tyler said. Biden's White House decided to say little after the verdict.

"We respect the rule of law and have no further comment," said Ian Sams, a spokesperson for the White House Counsel's Office.
