Biden in conversation with Zelenskyy promises new military aid to Ukraine

(Patria) - U.S. President Joe Biden spoke yesterday with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy and on that occasion announced a new package of American military aid to Ukraine, the White House said.

Biden confirmed to Zelenskyy "the unwavering support of the United States for the people of Ukraine" in the war with Russia.

- Russia will not win this conflict. The independent people of Ukraine will win, and the United States, our allies, and our partners will continue to stand with them every step of the way - Biden added.

The aid package includes anti-aircraft missiles, counter-drone equipment, anti-tank missiles, and ammunition, the statement said.

- I am proud that we will announce a new package of military aid to Ukraine today - Biden stated in the announcement, without specifying the dollar value of the aid.

A U.S. official revealed that the value of the aid will amount to $125 million.

The two leaders spoke a day before Ukraine's Independence Day, and on the same day Washington announced comprehensive sanctions against nearly 400 individuals and companies linked to Russian aggression against Ukraine.

The United States has provided key military support to Ukraine, giving it more than $55 billion in weapons, ammunition, and other security assistance since Russia began its invasion in February 2022.

The latest aid announcement came after Ukrainian troops launched an attack on Russia's Kursk region in an offensive that represents the first incursion by a foreign army onto Russian territory since World War II.
