Biden considering allowing Ukraine to fire missiles deep into Russian territory

(Patria) - US President Joseph Biden is not ruling out the possibility of allowing Ukraine to fire missiles deep into Russian territory, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told Sky News.

Blinken said this after stating at a press conference in London that Iran had supplied Moscow with short-range missiles and that Russian leader Vladimir Putin "will probably use them in a few weeks in Ukraine".

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on the US and other Western allies to allow Ukraine to use long-range missiles to strike targets in Russia to increase pressure on Moscow to end the war.

In an interview with Sky News, Blinken said that the US had ensured that Ukraine had "what it needed, when it needed it, to be effective in repelling Russian aggression" since the invasion by Moscow's forces in February 2022.

However, Blinken added that Washington had to consider other factors, such as whether Ukrainian forces could use the "sophisticated systems" provided by Western allies and whether they could maintain them.

- All these things must be taken into account when making this decision. But what I can tell you is that we have adapted every step of the way and will continue to do so - so we are not ruling out that possibility at this stage - Blinken concluded.
