(Patria) - US President Joe Biden stated that any discussions about a ceasefire in Gaza can only take place if Hamas releases all hostages taken from Israel in the October 7 attack.
"We should release those hostages and then we can talk," Biden said at a White House event when asked if he would support a "hostages for ceasefire" deal, AFP reported.
His comments came after Hamas released two more women abducted from Israel. US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said, "We welcome today's release of two Israeli citizens held hostage by Hamas."
"We continue to do everything possible to ensure the release of all remaining hostages in
Gaza," Sullivan said on X.
Israel on Monday increased the number of confirmed hostages to 222 people when Hamas attackers crossed the border and attacked kibbutzim, towns, and military bases in southern Israel.
