Biden: I will promote vaccination

(Patria) - Newly elected President Joe Biden said that Americans will not be required to receive the coronavirus vaccine when it becomes available in the US.

According to the BBC, Biden's statement came after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended wearing masks indoors, except in one's own home. The reason for the advice is that the country has entered a phase of "high transmission" of the coronavirus.

Biden, who is expected to take office on January 20, believes his inauguration will be a reduced event without much fanfare due to concerns about the coronavirus.

Pfizer and BioNTech's vaccine is awaiting approval, as is Moderna's vaccine. It is believed that the approval of the first vaccine for use should happen in about ten days.

Biden said he would not support a potential government attempt to make vaccination mandatory as it would cause fierce opposition, but added that he would do everything in his power to promote vaccination.

"I will do everything as president to encourage people to do the right thing. I will show how important it is," said the newly elected president.
