Biden Responds to Letter from Bosnians, Will Consider Their Stance

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - After Columbia University professor in New York Amra Šabić El-Rayess launched an initiative intended to be a wake-up call for the BiH diaspora in the United States in the context of the current political and security situation in BiH, Bosnians and Herzegovinians have received a response.

We remind you that Šabić El-Rayess, via Facebook, invited the BiH diaspora in the United States to send a letter against the destabilization of BiH to US President Joe Biden, as well as to all senators and congressmen in their area of residence, through a simple SMS message.

Below is the response from US President Joe Biden:

"Thank you for your letter regarding U.S. foreign policy. Thank you for taking the time to write to me, and I am glad to have the opportunity to respond.

The challenges facing the world today show how interconnected we are and how the fates of all people are intertwined. An epidemic of a virus in overseas countries can cause great pain and suffering in our country as well. A conflict waged on another continent can cause unrest that threatens our society. Economic problems abroad can mean job losses and business closures in cities across America. Climate change has already intensified hurricanes in the Gulf, floods in the continental part of the country, and wildfires in the West. No country can solve these problems alone, and America cannot afford not to be present on the world stage. Investing in strengthening our leadership is also an investment in strengthening our security and prosperity at home.

As President, I am determined to restore our alliances and our leadership role in international institutions, and to affirm our credibility and prepare members of the American middle class to succeed in the global economy. I firmly believe that our Nation is better positioned than any other to lead in the 21st century and be the greatest force for good in the world. During my administration, American political and economic leadership will be based on our most cherished values: defending freedom, empowering opportunity, supporting universal rights, respecting the rule of law, and respecting the dignity of every person.

Diplomacy is once again at the center of our foreign policy, and we are committed to approaching the challenges of today's world from a position of strength, working closely with our allies and partners. I also want to be clear that I will never hesitate to defend the American people or our vital interests, which includes the use of force if necessary.
