(Patria) - U.S. President Joe Biden said yesterday that he does not rule out a debate with Donald Trump after the former president challenged the current one, Reuters reported.
- It depends on his behavior - Biden said.
The comment, made to reporters as he left Washington for Philadelphia, meant he did not rule out a debate with Trump before the presidential election on November 5.
In presidential election years, the Commission on Presidential Debates typically organizes and hosts three debates. In the contest between Biden and Trump in 2020, the two debated twice, but a third encounter was canceled.
Two years ago, the Republican National Committee voted to withdraw from the aforementioned commission, following Trump's complaints about the timing of the events, the format of the debates, and the choice of moderators. But on Wednesday, Trump challenged Biden on his social media platform Truth.
"For the good of our country, it is important that Joe Biden and I discuss the issues that are so important to Americans and the American people. Therefore, I call for debates, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE!", Trump wrote.
Trump refused to participate in any debates during the race for the Republican presidential nomination.
