(Patria) - US President Joe Biden said on Friday that he expects Iran to attack Israel "sooner rather than later" and warned Tehran not to do so, Reuters reported.
When asked by journalists about his message to Iran, Biden simply said: "Don't" and underlined Washington's commitment to defending Israel. "We are committed to defending Israel. We will support Israel. We will help defend Israel, and Iran will not succeed," he said.
Biden said he would not reveal secure information, but said he expects an attack could come "sooner rather than later".
Earlier, White House spokesman John Kirby said that an imminent attack by Iran on Israel is a real and viable threat, but did not provide details about the timeframe. He said that the US is looking at the positioning of its own forces in the region in light of Tehran's threats and that they are monitoring the situation very carefully.
