(Patria) - Vote counting in four US states is still ongoing. For the second day, the US does not know who will be the 46th president.
8:30 AM: Results for Georgia, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina, where Donald Trump has a slight lead, have not yet been announced. On Wednesday, his campaign filed lawsuits seeking to stop the counting of votes in Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, and requested a recount in Wisconsin.
New results from the US elections, which may reveal the final winner, are expected to be known in the afternoon Central European Time, when updated data from Nevada, Georgia, and Arizona are anticipated.
Protests by supporters of both candidates have taken place in several US states. Biden supporters are calling for every vote to be counted, while Trump supporters are calling for the counting of votes to stop.
2:00 AM: Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has won the key state of Michigan, CNN, NBC, and The New York Times reported, bringing him one step closer to the White House. Michigan contributes 16 electors to the Electoral College, meaning Biden has reached 264 out of the 270 electors needed to win. Some leading US media outlets have reported that Biden has 264 electoral votes, while CNN still shows 253.
The former US Vice President is only separated from the White House by a victory in Nevada, where he currently holds a narrow lead. However, the final vote count in that state will not be known before Thursday.
Results are yet to be announced in Pennsylvania, Georgia, and North Carolina, where Trump is leading according to the latest count of votes. North Carolina carries 15 electoral votes, Pennsylvania 20. Results are also awaited from Arizona. These are a large number of votes that arrived by mail.
Regarding the Senate, Republicans are currently leading.
