BHRT receives four million KM, part of funds allocated for broadcasting EURO 2024 and the Olympics

(Patria) - The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the proposal of the Minister of Communications and Transport Edin Forto, adopted a decision allocating four million KM to the Public Broadcasting Service of Bosnia and Herzegovina for studio and production capacities for HD resolution signal production, and three million KM each to the entity governments for promoting the development of the electronic media sector.

Additionally, the funds allocated to BHRT are intended for the repayment of broadcasting rights for the 2024 European Football Championship and the 2024 Summer Olympic Games.

"This is the first step. The second must be the urgent appointment of the management structures of FTV in the Parliament of the Federation of BiH in order to fairly regulate the collection of RTV fees within the Federation of BiH. The third step is the adoption of a new law that will permanently regulate the stability of public services and from which all three services will have stronger support than today," said the state Minister of Communications and Transport Edin Forto.

He thanked the members of the Council of Ministers of BiH for their support in adopting this decision, and the employees of BHRT and FTV for their understanding and patience.

This decision aims to ensure the financial stability of public services, which is one of the 14 EU priorities for accession negotiations, enable the sustainability and functionality of the Public Broadcasting Service of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and create preconditions for supporting and improving the telecommunications and electronic media sector in BiH.
