Bosnian taekwondo athlete knocked out attacker, escaped kidnapping

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Bosnian taekwondo athlete Nadina Mehmedović, according to her father Elvin, was targeted by an attacker, or rather kidnapper, on Sunday evening.

"Unknown individuals attempted to kidnap Nadina Mehmedović, a representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina in taekwondo, in Šije. They tried to force her into a car with threats and physical force, and inflicted minor bodily injuries. With God's help and her experience in competition fights, she managed to knock out one of the kidnappers and escape, avoiding the worst-case scenario. I am publishing this so that it doesn't happen to someone else again, so that people are aware of such unfortunate events, etc. I note that due to the police investigation, we cannot reveal more details and that the investigation is ongoing. Nadina recently turned 17, and as a minor, she managed to escape the worst possible situation. We are all in shock because of this event; if anyone saw or knows anything, any information would be helpful," Elvin wrote.

Aldina Ahmić, spokesperson for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Zenica-Doboj Canton, confirmed to N1 that the incident was reported to the duty service of the Tešanj police station last night.

"Police officers, after the report of an alleged kidnapping of a minor in Šije, municipality of Tešanj, began intensive checks on the ground, in terms of verifying the claims in the report. The claims from the report are being determined, whether an attempted kidnapping was carried out, and other circumstances related to the mentioned case," said Ahmić.

She could not officially confirm anything yet, except that intensive activities are underway.
