Bosnian film "Sin" nominated for Oscar

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The candidate from Bosnia and Herzegovina for the Oscar award of the American Academy (Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences) is the film "Sin" by director Ines Tanović, announced the Association of Filmmakers of BiH.

The Association of Filmmakers of BiH, as a certified professional organization for Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized the selection, and the commission, which included director Srđan Vuletić, screenwriter Elma Tataragić, screenwriter Tina Šmalcelj, producer Zoran Galić, costume designer Lejla Hodžić, screenwriter Asja Krsmanović, director Aida Begić, editor Predrag Solomun, cinematographer Mustafa Mustafić, and director Elmir Jukić, decided by vote on the BiH candidate.

"Sin" had its world premiere at the 25th Sarajevo Film Festival. The film "Sin" is the story of Arman (18) who was adopted as a baby. Not long after, the family had a biological son. As Arman battles the demons of his past, he simultaneously tries to protect his younger brother Dado (14) from all the challenges of today's Sarajevo: drugs, weapons, going to the front lines in the Middle East...

This drama follows a family broken by internal tension as they struggle to survive in BiH. The roles in the film were played by Dino Bajrić, Snežana Bogdanović, Uliks Fehmiu, Lidija Kordić, Jasna Ornela Berry, and Emir Hadžihafizbegović.

The film was produced by the company "Dokument" from Sarajevo, as a co-production of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Romania, and Slovenia. The director and screenwriter of the film is Ines Tanović, the editing is by Redžinald Šimek, the cinematographer is Mitja Ličen, and the producer is Alem Babić.
