Bešlić sends reaction to Croatian RTL: Mayor of Mostar didn't know July 11 was a Day of Mourning!?

From the City Administration of Mostar (pay attention now!) only to Croatian RTL, which along with numerous Bosnian media outlets announced that on the Day of Mourning, July 11, Mayor Ljubo Bešlić and the President of the Sports Association of the City of Mostar, Hasan Šišić, were organizing a cocktail reception for the best athletes of Mostar, they requested to publish a reaction/denial in which, among other things, they state they did not know when organizing this event that July 11 was a Day of Mourning!, writes the news agency Patria.

Several absurdities. First, Mostar is not in Croatia but in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and why does Bešlić only care that RTL published this news, and not that almost all Bosnian media outlets published it, and it would presumably be logical to send a denial to domestic outlets as well.

Second, what is even more damaging is the justification that they did not know that the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina had declared July 11 a Day of Mourning!? An identical decision was made by the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where, as in the Council of Ministers, Bešlić's colleagues from HDZ BiH sit.

Even if no competent state or federal institution had made an official decision on a Day of Mourning, for 21 years around the world, July 11 has been marked in various ways as the saddest day of the year.

Some people can justify anything. Both humanly and politically. This is proof of insolence (it cannot be called otherwise) that after you announce a cocktail on July 11, then under media pressure you cancel it, you still issue a denial to a TV station in a neighboring country to say you didn't know July 11 was a Day of Mourning! Sometimes it's better to keep quiet when you see you've made a mistake.
