Bećirović: I want to firmly connect BiH with NATO and EU member states

(Patria) - Chair of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović spoke in Vilnius with Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Ingrida Šimonytė as part of an official visit to the Republic of Lithuania.

During the conversation with Prime Minister Šimonytė, Bećirović said that his visits to Finland, Sweden and Lithuania are not a coincidence, but a strategic commitment to firmly connect Bosnia and Herzegovina with NATO and EU member states. In this context, he also recalled that his first foreign policy visits were precisely to the headquarters of NATO and the EU in Brussels.

Furthermore, he emphasized that all officials of Bosnia and Herzegovina should intensify their foreign policy activities in NATO and EU member states in the future, thereby further highlighting the importance of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Euro-Atlantic path.

During the talks, the interlocutors expressed commitment to strengthening friendly cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Lithuania. Bećirović thanked for Lithuania's continued support for Bosnia and Herzegovina in the processes of European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

He stressed that the key strategic goals of Bosnia and Herzegovina are full membership in the EU and NATO.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Ingrida Šimonytė stated that Lithuania remains firmly committed to providing support to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the process of European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Among other things, she highlighted Lithuania's readiness to assist Bosnia and Herzegovina in achieving its foreign policy goals through its experience and available capacities.

Chair of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović said that, among other things, membership in the EU and NATO would provide an additional impetus for attracting foreign direct investment and creating new jobs. Entry into NATO is a common interest of Bosnia and Herzegovina and NATO.

Chair Bećirović said that Bosnia and Herzegovina aims to further strengthen economic cooperation with Lithuania. He stressed the need to accelerate the dynamics for signing agreements in various areas, especially agreements that would raise the level of economic cooperation. Also, Bećirović proposed to the Prime Minister of Lithuania to speed up the process of concluding several important agreements, including one on economic cooperation.
