Bećirović sends open letter to Sattler: Call on the EU for urgent action against Dodik

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Delegate in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament Denis Bećirović called on Johann Sattler, Head of the European Union Delegation, to propose sanctions against Milorad Dodik and his associates.

"Dear Ambassador,

Today, Milorad Dodik and his followers have publicly announced that they are embarking on a dangerous path that leads to the complete destruction of the Dayton Peace Agreement, the Constitution of BiH, the rule of law, and the state institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Parallel to Dodik's warmongering policy, today the time for excuses, concessions, and inaction by the EU in Bosnia and Herzegovina has also expired. The EU is now at a crossroads: either it will impose the strictest sanctions on Dodik and his organized group, or it will bear historical responsibility for endangering the peace process in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region through its silence and passivity.

Mr. Sattler,

The domestic and international public expect you to call on the EU for concrete action and strong sanctions against Dodik and his associates without delay. You are expected to join the United States and the democratic part of the world in defending the Dayton Peace Agreement with your actions. In the event that the EU cannot unanimously decide on sanctioning the destroyers of the Dayton Peace Agreement, it is high time for the major EU countries and witnesses to this international treaty to do so.

The facts clearly show that you have not achieved any positive results by previously conceding to Dodik and his associates. On the contrary, by tolerating his policy, you have greatly encouraged warmongering and anti-Dayton policies. It is time to wake up from the illusion that Dodik can be stopped with empty words, in the interest of all citizens and peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the entire region. It is high time to join the justified sanctions of the United States and show in action that you support an independent, sovereign, and indivisible state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
