Bećirović requests urgent session of the House of Peoples of BiH PA, proposed to condemn Russian aggression on Ukraine

(Patria) - Delegate of the SDP BiH in the House of Peoples of BiH PA Denis Bećirović today requested from the Chairperson and the Collegium of the House of Peoples of BiH PA to schedule an urgent session of that house to consider the Declaration on the condemnation of aggression against Ukraine. 

The proposed Declaration submitted by Bećirović states:

The House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina:

- condemns threats of armed force or its use against independent and sovereign states

- supports the European security order whose key principles are contained in the Charter of the United Nations and the basic documents of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, including the Helsinki Final Act and the Paris Charter;
- insists that international disputes be resolved by peaceful means that do not jeopardize international peace and security;
- underlines the importance of affirming cooperation between states in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and respecting the legal equality of all states,
- emphasizes the importance of respecting the freedom of states to choose or change their own security arrangements and the consistent fulfillment of accepted international obligations in good faith.

II.

The House of Peoples most strongly condemns the aggression against Ukraine and its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence, and calls on the Russian Federation to immediately stop the military attack and withdraw its armed forces from Ukrainian state territory.
 

The House of Peoples condemns the Russian recognition of the self-proclaimed regions of Donetsk and Luhansk as an act of flagrant violation of Ukraine's sovereignty and undermining the foundations of the international order.

IV.

The House of Peoples emphasizes that the bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina have defined foreign policy goals and have an obligation to align foreign policy with the foreign and security policy of the European Union. It is unacceptable to justify the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine in any way or to be neutral in the face of the suffering of the Ukrainian people and the obvious attack on the international order and fundamental principles of international law.

V.

The House of Peoples expresses full solidarity with Ukraine and the Ukrainian people and calls on the Council of Ministers of BiH, as well as other authorities at lower levels, to provide humanitarian and other assistance to Ukraine in this critical and difficult moment for them and for the entire peace-loving world.

The House of Peoples unequivocally expresses its conviction that a democratic, free, stable, and secure Ukraine is in the strategic interest of all citizens of Ukraine, Europe, world peace, and the international order.
