Bećirović with Congressman Auchincloss: Enhanced sanctions on RS leadership would help prevent further destabilization of BiH

(Patria) - Member of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović spoke in the US Congress building in Washington with Congressman Jake Auchincloss, a member of the US House of Representatives and co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on BiH.

Bećirović expressed his gratitude to Congressman Auchincloss for his continued commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between the US and BiH, especially through his significant role as co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on BiH.

During the conversation, Bećirović emphasized the need for continued targeted sanctions against the main actors attacking the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The introduction of enhanced sanctions against the leadership of the BiH entity RS and the close network of business and political allies of that entity's leadership would help prevent further destabilization of BiH.

He also stressed the necessity of providing full support to the international community's High Representative in BiH in using his authorities, in accordance with Annex 10 of the Dayton Peace Agreement and the Bonn Powers, all with the aim of protecting peace, stability, and the consistent implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

Bećirović stated that the messages from the president of the RS entity that the US guarantees the so-called sovereignty of the RS entity are extremely unserious.

The Dayton Peace Agreement clearly states that the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina has sovereignty. Such false constructions have no legal basis and represent a continuation of attacks on this international agreement.

As co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on Bosnia and Herzegovina, Congressman Auchincloss highlighted the importance of preserving security and stability, and strengthening the efficiency of Bosnia and Herzegovina's institutions. He also referred to the need to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.
