Bećirović with Ambassador Akseki: Turkey a reliable partner on BiH's Euro-Atlantic path

(Patria) - BiH Presidency member Denis Bećirović received the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Emin Akseki, for an inaugural visit today.

Bećirović welcomed Ambassador Akseki and wished him a successful term in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At the beginning of the conversation, he emphasized that Turkey is a proven friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina and plays an important and continuous role in ensuring peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.

He also stated that Turkey, as a NATO member, is a reliable partner on Bosnia and Herzegovina's Euro-Atlantic path.

Ambassador Akseki thanked him for the warm welcome and conveyed greetings from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

He expressed Turkey's support for the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He also highlighted the firm commitment to further deepening relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During the conversation, Bećirović informed the Ambassador about the serious political and security challenges currently facing Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He specifically emphasized that the leadership of the Bosnian Serb entity of Republika Srpska is pursuing policies that openly undermine the state's constitutional order and the fundamental provisions of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

He stressed that such actions are directed against peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During the meeting, it was highlighted that Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey nurture particularly close and friendly relations, based on mutual trust, respect, and historical ties.

This long-standing connection is further strengthened by intensive cooperation in the political, economic, cultural, and educational spheres.

In this context, cooperation in the field of defense and security was also discussed, which represents an important pillar of the partnership relations between the two countries.

Bećirović thanked Turkey for its comprehensive support in modernizing and strengthening the capacities of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including personnel training, equipment donations, and joint activities within the NATO program.

It was emphasized that such cooperation further contributes to the operational readiness and capability of Bosnia and Herzegovina's institutions to respond to security, humanitarian, and civilian challenges, and represents a concrete expression of the strategic partnership and trust between the two states.

The possibilities for expanding economic cooperation were also discussed, particularly in the areas of tourism, energy, infrastructure projects, and education.

Bećirović emphasized that the friendship between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey has strategic significance and represents a valuable foundation for continuing joint projects and political dialogue in the coming period.
