Bećirović spoke with the Permanent Representative of France to the UN

(Patria) - Member of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović spoke with the Permanent Representative of the Republic of France to the United Nations (UN), Ambassador Jérôme Bonnafont.

The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN, Zlatko Lagumdžija.

Bećirović expressed gratitude to the Ambassador of the Republic of France to the UN for the continuous support to Bosnia and Herzegovina within the UN, and especially in the UN Security Council.

The interlocutors discussed the next activities within the UN Security Council, the security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and reached a high degree of agreement on taking necessary measures and activities to preserve peace and stability.

Bećirović stated that it is important for the International Day of Remembrance and Commemoration of the 1995 Srebrenica Genocide to be marked at the UN headquarters, as well as around the world.

During the conversation, he expressed gratitude to France and its President Emmanuel Macron for the support during the adoption of the Resolution on the International Day of Remembrance and Commemoration of the 1995 Srebrenica Genocide in the UN General Assembly.

He emphasized that this support is another confirmation of the friendly relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and France.

He informed the French ambassador about the security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a special focus on the attack on the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the threats to the Dayton Peace Agreement by the leadership of the BiH entity of Republika Srpska.

He stated that it is particularly important for international partners and allies, including the Republic of France as a witness state to the Dayton Peace Agreement, to continue to provide support for the preservation of the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the rule of law, and the strengthening of state institutions.

As a serious blow to the security and stability of the state, Bećirović cited the adoption of the Bill on Amendments to the Law on Police and Internal Affairs in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, which introduces a reserve police force in the Republika Srpska entity.

He emphasized that this represents the militarization of police structures in the Republika Srpska entity and a dangerous destabilizing step that threatens peace and further deepens the security crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Ambassador Bonnafont emphasized that the Republic of France supports the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He stated that France will continue to strongly support the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
