Bećirović: BiH's path to NATO is inevitable

Dr. Zijad Bećirović, director of the IFIMES Institute, appearing on Serbia's Prva TV, stated that Russia has clearly expressed its opposition to Bosnia and Herzegovina's accession to NATO. Montenegro was the first to encounter Russian influence, but it became a NATO member and joined the club of the 30 most powerful countries in the world and the largest military-political alliance, says Bećirović.

- Bosnia and Herzegovina has the ambition to become a member of the EU and NATO, but the latter is being challenged by the Russian Federation, which it does not hide and has clearly stated that it does not advise BiH to join NATO, sharing the same advice with the Republic of Macedonia. All these recent developments are primarily concentrated on the Republic of Macedonia and BiH, where it has found certain political structures, primarily in the BiH entity of Republika Srpska, which serve to achieve its interests.

He stated that the issue of military property in BiH remains open, but that BiH's path to NATO is inevitable, as is Serbia's. He emphasized that a policy of good relations among the countries of the region must be pursued.

- The European Union is always in trouble, but it is developing and must ensure that the Western Balkan countries become members of the European Union.

Bećirović emphasized that he is convinced that the President of Republika Srpska and SNSD, Milorad Dodik, has both para-intelligence services and paramilitary organizations, given the information he often makes public.

Speaking about the interference of the Croatian state leadership in the relations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, he pointed out that President Kolinda Grabar Kitarović is at the forefront of this, both in official and secret talks.

- We have solo actions by Croatian representatives in the European Parliament who lecture and try to achieve the interests of HDZ.

Serbia is indeed the most important country in the region because it creates major problems regarding Kosovo, Bećirović believes, adding its involvement in Macedonia, events in Montenegro, in BiH, and in Croatia.

- Serbia is a multi-ethnic country, but the regime in Belgrade is trying to conceal this, as if it were a state of the Serbian people and as if only Serbs lived there. It is an extremely multi-ethnic country, but the external image it projects suggests otherwise.

Bećirović stated that there was the biggest election theft and fraud in the last elections in BiH.

- Regarding the election for the BiH Presidency member from the Bosniak people, Šefik Džaferović was third according to all polls, Denis Bećirović first, and Fahrudin Radončić second. And that third candidate won by more than 16,000 votes over the second-placed Denis Bećirović, with over 500,000 invalid ballots at all levels of government, creating the impression that illiterate people live in BiH, which is not true. 500,000 ballots is 8%, while the European standard is 1 to 3 percent – said Bećirović.
